Sunday, February 3, 2019 - This is in a sweet spot, with a bit more flesh thanks to bottle age. Attractive toasty nose with grilled yellow peach and lemon drop. The elegant palate repeats those characters, lemon and grapefruit combining with an almost saline/Chablisesque touch. Still bright with sherbet acidity. Tumbarumba Chardonnay’s acid structure comes closest to Chablis of any Aussie region. Fully mature but should drink well for a few more years, the only question is whether the classy oak might have the edge over the fruit longer term. Superb demonstration of Tumbarumba Chardonnay’s potential.
