Monday, February 18, 2019 - Pulled the cork about 30 minutes prior to dinner and let the bottle come up in temperate a bit on the counter. Surprisingly floral on the nose. Color was still deep dark and opaque, but very drinkable right out of the gate. There was a hint of creaminess on the palate that I coulnd't quite place. Another recent comment called it chocolate and that might be close to what I was searching for, almost a milk chocolate.
Unlike some of the other 05s, I've found this particular vintage and bottling to be more generous throughout is life and tonight was no exception. This wine can easily be enjoyed now, but I sense / hope with that perfumed nose that this wine will continue to gain elegance over the next 10+ years. Excellent effort and deserving of its WS WOTY accolades.
