Saturday, March 2, 2019 - A Survivor. Nearly four decades old and showing classic Old School claret character. Brick red with medium depth of color. Nose not complex but pretty with understated fruit and hints of stone. Yes, it is old but really not tired. On the palate not much fruit, rather the emphasis is on a mouth-watering acidity: Old School. Reminds me alot of an old Rioja yet without that orange peel thing they get. So, classic old Bordeaux character reflecting a high-production (and therefore somewhat lighter-bodied) vintage.
Remarkable for it's longevity.
Much what one would hope for but not necessarily expect.
