2005 Penfolds Shiraz St. Henri

Saturday, June 29, 2019 - Travelling along really nicely, aided by the screwcap I would say, and of course the serious backbone of great fruit and oak. Powerful but not in the hot phenolic way some big South Aussie shiraz can be. Lovely clove and vanilla nose, fruit mince pie with a bit of red berries there as well in the mouth. Nice long smooth taste as you would expect of a wine with this heritage, clearly great fruit and good oak. Aged very well, probably got more time and may integrate a touch more but drinking very nicely now. I'd not muck around if I had more - just get into them if you have 'em!
