Thursday, August 21, 2008 - With a price that's just a buck or two more than the 2000 was -- cheaper, then, in real dollar terms -- and an aesthetic that reaches even further back into the past to a Bordeaux that's dangerously close to becoming just a memory, here's a totally guiltless 2005 Bordeaux that put a big grin on my face. Ruby in color, firmly on the red side of the fruit spectrum, and with a restrained plushness that feels more like Pomerol than the Médoc, this is tender and easy to drink with a soft but billowing palate presence creating a reverberation far in excess of its medium-bodied material.
