90 Points

Thursday, September 19, 2019 - Cherry, some cocoa, and earthy notes on the nose. Slight whiff of alcohol and some spice. Med body, med acid not much tannin and not much of a finish, felt like it was lacking a bit as it was pretty straight forward with some cherry, cola, a bit of earthy and spice notes but not much finesse. Not sure if this is the profile of this particular vineyard as I don’t have much experience with it but likely wouldn’t seek it out again. Definitely ok to drink now but if I were try again would wait 2-3 years to see how it progresses.

9/20/2019 4:56:00 AM - West Coast--if I read your review, without having seen your rating, I would have guessed a rating of no more than 85. I wonder what you would have rated it blind, especially not knowing it was a $50 wine?

9/20/2019 7:14:00 AM - I can see that, however I should have also added that it was clear this was a well made wine and not a generic Pinot or over worked wine which I can appreciate. It wasn’t my “preference” when it comes to Pinot but this is not a poorly made wine or had an major flaws. Really could care less about the price and normally wouldn’t expect greatness from $50 Pinot nowadays anyway but I could see your points hope it clears it up a little. Cheers!
