The nose is expressive, but not typically Cali in style...there is a lot of minerality, like what you'd expect from slate, considerable earth, blackberry compote...a large wine that dances quite well around the edges, all that fruit is there, but again the focus is the killer minerality. I love this wine. This reminds me of Priorat or mineral-Rhone from a cooler vintage...nice stuff.
