Thursday, January 16, 2020 - Dark ruby with a hint of age near the glass. Medium intense aromas of blue and black fruit. Ripe blueberry and blackberry. Bramble and new leather. Palate is a bit closed off, tight and underwhelming after an hour in the decanter. Wondering if it might be in an awkward place? Medium high acids and tannins that are a touch gritty. Based on the aromas, it seems there should be a lot more there. I’m going to let it sit a while longer and come back to it.

Okay, after another 30 minutes in the glass, and, more importantly, after it warmed a bit more from cellar temp, it’s a completely different wine. Still tight, but flavors are more intensely following the nose. Nose is more intense and cassis is coming through in the palate. This needs more time in the bottle, but much improved.
