Sunday, January 26, 2020 - (Mostly) Burgundy Dinner with Friends (Republique - Los Angeles CA): Served double blind. Came across clearly as great Grand Cru Burgundy from a ripe vintage. Complex combination of red and black cherry with earth, mushroom and savory spice. Elegant and powerful at the same time, with a long, expanding, umami finish. I thought it from Gevrey (Ruchottes or Griotte) 1989. Absolutely fantastic, this was the clear Wine of the Night.
