Wednesday, March 25, 2020 - Quarantine tasting series #2....

My second bottle of Cayuse, and this one definitely had the funk. On opening it was pretty strong, but it blew off as the wine opened up such that it became a complementary element. Some funk/animale on the nose with red fruits and herbs. Very nice silky mouthfeel with mid weight fruits, good lift, significant acidity and cut. Long saline finish. Nice mid-weight syrah in a style I appreciate, a bit of heat detracts for me a touch but I like it well enough. I don't see any reason to wait on this.
