Wednesday, May 13, 2020 - Quite nice and especially for the price. Dark dense ruby in the glass. Pencil shavings and plum on the nose. It's quite lively with acidity in the mouth, an initial sweetness ends dry but not drying. More pencil shavings, some dark red and blue fruit, and a hint of sous bois. Light dusty tannins follow. A good Bordeaux blend, with interest and verve. Its not earth shattering, but it manages to be both approachable now with indications that it could age for 5 - 10 years with interest. I was initially regretful that I'd bought a case, but I take it back and think this will be an interesting, if uncomplicated wine to come back to over the next few years.

5/13/2020 6:39:00 PM - Really enjoyed your palate here! Love the pencil shavings & it has been a while since I read "sous bois" in a review - terrific!

What is the trick in removing that wax cap?

I will adjust my timeline here - I am curious to see how it will be in 5. Lucky to have a case - sometimes the gamble pays off, right?

    Many thanks!

5/14/2020 4:15:00 AM - Thanks Joe! You should try one now if you haven't, and keep the others. It's quite drinkable at the moment. The wax cap is actually one of the easier ones I've encountered since it isn't to crumbly. I always love the look of a wax cap, but they are really annoying to open...
