Wednesday, August 19, 2020 - Brought to Vintage on 5th, Crystal River ($25 corkage) to celebrate my birthday. First one of these in over three years. This has held up amazingly well. Still looks so youthful in the glass. No bricking at all and just a slight lightening around the edge. Alluring scents of crushed dark berries, earth, cassis and spice on the nose. Full-bodied and quite elegant now in texture and weight. Continues to show a surprising amount of ripe, delicious plum, dark currant and blackberry fruit, with a moderate acidity. There's excellent depth on the mid-palate and a long finish that offers tantalizing hints of dark chocolate, coffee and spice. So balanced, complex and delicious. Not a rough edge in sight. A wonderful Mondavi Reserve Cabernet that has aged gracefully and paired beautifully with their fabulous beef filet.
