Started out funky and reduced (practically undrinkable) so I let this sit overnight in the fridge. This helped get rid of the funkiness, but this was not very pleasant, with coarse tannins and mouth feel and some bitter notes. Maybe this bottle is drying out and leaving tannin. Not sure about the previous poster declaring no wood to be a "modern" style - I'm under the impression that Bordeaux "modern" style is what Michel Rolland is doing in St. Emilion, with 200% new oak and micro-oxygenation, not concrete egg fermentation (or is this maybe post-modern style?) . In any case, given the previous recent notes, I've got to think this is an advanced or flawed bottle.

My understanding of the modern style is the same as yours. When I said "slightly modern" in style, I was referring to the fact that to me, the wine seemed slightly fruit forward. Sorry your bottle was flawed.
