Sunday, November 30, 2008 - Bought this wine as I have very good memories from visiting the winery last summer. This one is considerably darker on the nose than the one tasted last year (I believe that was the 2005). Some spice and dark cherries on the nose. With air the raspberries come to the front. More opulent than elegant, yet there is an appealing coolness to it. The alcohol (14,5%) is evident but not a problem. Not very complex, but still fine for an entry level pinot. The fruit is the point here. On the palate there are more raspberries. Not the most concentrated of wines, and with surprisingly smooth tannins, but there is a nice acidic grip in the finish. Some heat and a touch of bitterness in the finish is negative, but still this is not bad for the price. The nose is best though.
