Saturday, November 21, 2020 - Medium ruby red with medium plus optical density and low diffuse reflectivity. Aromas of classic Pinot Noir, with cherry, raspberry, cola, and light fresh earth. Touches of savoury spice on the back end, with a crescendo of intensity. Very appealing nose. On the palate, light to medium in body, medium acidity, and a very polished presence of light and rounded tannins. The texture is even and a bit narrow, for a juicy and easy mouthfeel. Flavours show good intensity, with an attack showing cherry, and red berries, with a cola spice on top. Almost a classic California flair to things, but very much staying in the cool climate Pinot Noir style. The midpalate shows some florals and spices on top of the fruit, with some earthy notes coming on. The final transition shows some earthy truffle and clean baked sour cherry. Finishes with earthy vegetal notes (beets, light onion skin). Medium finish length, with nice intensity.

This is a great value Pinot Noir that feels well-made. Definitely a great varietal character here, with some nods to old world Pinot. Very tasteful oak usage really helps to keep things on point. Very much an everyday wine for any occasion and a crowd-pleasing delight. Nice to find a California Pinot Noir that I can enjoy! While not a complexity monster or anything, enough depth and flavour evolution to provide interest beyond the surface.
