Tuesday, February 2, 2021 - Last of 6, opened an hour, perfect level, cork half travelled, big step up on previous bottles, last in 2014, this is really showing well with lovely plum, cherry and cassis fruit wrapped round an iron core, impressively pure and complex for Italy, long and persistent, hard to see upside but no rush. F+ (18)........never a particularly well regarded vintage, this benefits from being in the pre d'Alceo days when the Sammarco was the top wines of the estate with inherently plusher fruit than more recent bottlings.
