Friday, March 5, 2021 - One seldom sees Petit Verdot bottled as a varietal, which is a shame, because it can make very good wine. This particular example exceeded my expectations. The color is dark and inky; it has a fairly strong, fruity nose, which was difficult to resolve into its components. Fairly rich mouthfeel, with a lot of dark fruit flavors, blackberry predominating, and some pepper on the finish. Still somewhat tannic, which leads me to believe that it will improve with a couple of more years of bottle age.
