Thursday, January 1, 2009 - Deep ruby, cloudy color. (Unfiltered). On opening this is a definitely stinky wine; lots of barnyardy aromas which might turn some people off. A lot of that blew off after an hour or so. Also aromas of jalapeño pepper, red licorice and pencil lead. Great acid spine on the palate but it thins out on the back end. Light to medium body with dry tannins. This has an interesting and earthy profile; very likable.
