Thursday, April 15, 2021 - Really quite tasty. Tannins are strong and chewy at this stage, plenty of time for things to soften. The 14.5% alcohol is mostly hidden well. A very slight hint of funk, solid dark oak core, then spice, earth, and a hint of leaf in the aftertaste, and the tannins - like black tea, not green at all - linger for some time. The fruit isn't particularly primary but very good energy in the balance between acidity and tannins. I enjoy this wine on its own but a great match for fatty ribeye too. I think it's a notch above the 2014 at this point.
