Thursday, April 29, 2021 - ? did I open this too early, being a newcomer to Mencia.
Translucence in the eye is confirmed by lightness in the nose: A hint of raspberry flows from the glass, delivered softly.
The mouth is similar. Acidity is there - probably a typical Mencia trait - over time overruled by fruit coming forward delicately but decisively. Overall a fine wine, probably it should be in the cellar for a few more years. An 89 for now.
Update after two further hours (yes, blogging reflex): acidity has withdrawn. Nice and supple to drink now. Notching up to 91 and broadening group of friends the next bottles may be shared with. Will nevertheless keep those a few years.
