Sunday, June 13, 2021 - Isn't English sparkling wine improving! This one has 8 years in bottle now and has a delightful freshness and zingy energy that is quite invigorating. Lovely chalky minerality, vibrant aromas of apples and pears, a firm acidity and structure, a touch of brioche/biscuit, a nice, rounded polish to the whole experience... Lots to like. Missing for me is complexity, another layer of interest, and perhaps a less explosive mousse. This is a simple wine, but it's also a 2013, and English wine is evolving rapidly. My guess is that there is lots of future in this estate and the wines will be getting better and better.
