Saturday, January 17, 2009 - More Recent Release Bordeaux (K&L Wines, San Francisco): Bright, clear, medium to dark center. Gorgeously ripe fruit on the nose, uplifted by herbs and spice. The palate is lighter than the aromatics would suggest. There is some naturally sweet fruit in a looser structure, but it is nowhere near as lush as you would think. In fact, comes across as somewhat sinewy, with unimpressive length and finish. Difficult to understand at this stage since the aromatics and flavors are so discrepant. I preferred the much less heralded Sansonnet for its relative harmony, but the nose on this is so promising. We'll see.
