Friday, July 9, 2021 - Decanted 3 hrs. Comes across initially as a bit tannic a touch of heat. Soon though, a very attractive wine merges. 16 was another hot (so we thought in 2016) vintage and perhaps that accounts for the initial perceptions, but the wine has a lovely core of dark cherry fruit and a slivers of tobacco - very fresh too. In Red Mt reds, I often notice a dusty character, but here, it felt like hot rocks, perhaps Graves via WW? A fun comparison for sure and a really fun wine that I think will age really well.
