This ‘base’ wine was not only playful and delicious but also layered and elegant.
Initially the palate was soft, but with air the energy grew. There was a fun interplay of ripe fruit while remaining quite light footed.
Notes of white smoke, spicy herbs, and tangerine zest lead into a palate of effervescent apples, whipped cream, and wet stone.
What an effort at such a ridiculous price point. Fantastic wine and another example of what a great producer can do at all levels.
The 2020 vintage has been getting some nice hype and this bottle has only sparked more attention for me.
