Friday, March 7, 2014 - Deep garnet with nose of ripe sour cherries, rhubarb, some fruitcake and raisin, dry forest floor and tree bark. Vibrant acidity balanced with a rich almost liquorous texture, full-bodied, very ripe fruits and a focus on baked red fruits. Warming and generous with a mid-palate showing damson, fruitcake and even prune yet displaying a sour cherry twist at the end. Spices linger in the background throughout and add intrigue to a well-developed wine that is holding its own. Rather a good version of super Tuscan power with Italian svelteness. A super-smooth wine packed with fruit, very good with long chocolate and cherry finish yet checked with some fine gritty tannins even a touch cherry skin on the finish.
