Friday, January 9, 2009 - Uncorked DK does Northern Rhône - Guigal, Chave, Chapoutier and more (Premisse, Copenhagen): Dark red with black core, slightly light rim. Deep and dry nose with mocca, dark berries and sweet oak. In the mouth there is plenty of sweet blackberries and a long aftertaste. Unfortunately this is neither balanced nor integrated. Sweet candied fruit and dry tannins are going in completely opposite directions. What a disappointment... no more than 92 pts at most. I decided to give it a chance and left a glass aside for a few hours. When revisited it had become more integrated and more refruited, herbal and with a touch of caramel. Closer to 94 pts and with potential for further development.
