Tuesday, September 14, 2021 - From a half-bottle - unlike last one, cork in perfect shape. Nice yellow colour with golden reflections. On the nose, aromas of pears, peaches in syrup, citrus, botrytis-rubber aromas, honey and christmas cake spices (cloves among others). On the palate, the attack is frank, fruity and sweet, with the aromas as found on the nose. There is a very faint residual touch of quality oak on the considerably long final. This wine keeps the sweetness in check with a good acidity and botrytis bitterness. The balance on this is very fine, and unlike the previous bottle, this is still quite young. A light and refined Sauternes (Barsac), this is all about balance. Very good. My last half, I have one whole yet which I will hold till about 2025 or so, hoping it will be in as good as shape as this half. Delightful! A good 91.

Unlike the 2005 de Malle which was on the downward slope, this is still very fresh providing lots of pleasure today. I'd say it is at early peak in half-bottles.
