Friday, November 26, 2021 - Tasted after a two hour decant.
Dark ruby in colour with aromas of sweet black fruit, bell pepper/herbal, a note of oak & a hint of mint & earth.
On the palate, full bodied tart black fruit, blackberry/boysenberry, cassis, herbaceous/bell pepper, background oak, medium to high acidity & high slightly angular tannins. As the wine opened up the flavour progressed to stronger cassis.
The finish is long to pepper & a chalky minerality.
This wine is youthful & somewhat aggressive, but flavour has good complexity & there is good cellaring potential.
