Sunday, December 26, 2021 - Recently met with owner/wine maker in Occidental tasting through 6 wines. All of Kurt’s pinots were Pure, Balanced, Cool and showing predominantly Red Fruit profiles. For my palate this was by far the standout. Nose Strawberry dominated, with hint of rhubarb, duck blood, tart cherry and hint of charcuterie smoke. Palate red fruited with a juxtaposition borderline between sapidity and creaminess, Umami! supportive tannins and good acidity, Blood Orange, hints of salinity. Alc. 13.7% yet no sense of heat. No fining/filtering, Indigenous yeast, 20-30% new oak based on harvest, 25% +/- whole cluster, Low yielding site due to poor soil, 244 cases produced… Na zdrowie
