89 Points

Friday, February 27, 2009 - This is a good value wine, but not a 96 pointer. Opens after about 30 minutes of air time. On the nose a little Rhone-like barnyard, blackberry and vanilla. On the palate, blackberry, brown sugar, molasses and cinnamon. Big tannins provide a long, dry finish, and the cinnamon on the palate lasts a little too long, literally minutes. I gave the '94 Harlan from last night 97 points, and that wine was more than 1 point better than this Conn Valley. This wine will improve with age, but I would guess 92 points at max. I prefer the '05 Eloge. The Parker Palate Premium strikes again.
