Saturday, February 19, 2022 - This example of 1988 Mouton, from a bottle with a fully saturated cork but base neck fill, shows enough classic Mouton notes in its cassis and subtle mint to make it recognizable but lacks the flare which characterizes Mouton as much as any aromatic constituent. Slightly lean and austere on the nose, this is almost severe on the palate with harsh tannin, a medium-light body, and taciturn fruit. This would be interesting to put next to Togni. If representative, a score in the 89-90 range would be appropriate.
