Sunday, April 10, 2022 - My last 2001 Costanti Brunello Riserva had a perfect cork, yet the wine did not live up my expectations. Imagine my surprise when this bottle, with a saturated cork, balled me over. All floral, autumnal and focused on deep red fruits and tobacco. Fleshy yet refined, a model of purity, with vivid red berries and a twang of sour citrus. While there are still some grippy tannins lingering, the 2001 is quite giving tonight, and so full of life.
