Sunday, March 22, 2009 - This was my first Pax wine, and I was quite impressed by what was in the glass. The nose really surprised me because of its complexity that I assume came from whole cluster pressing. Initially, this wine pumped out leafy/stemmy aromatics wrapped around blackberries and olives. This medium-bodied wine is not heavy but has great stuffing with loads of dark fruit and a healthy dose of oak which became more noticeable with air. There are still some tannins lurking on the long finish. Overall, this has a great nose, a plush mouthfeel, and a solid finish.
