Friday, July 8, 2022 - Friday hangout at Domaine (Chicago, IL): From magnum. A nose that has typical aged pinot earthiness and mushroom notes, as well as some generously sweet, plummy fruit and maybe a hint of orange peel as well. The palate is quite rounded and large-scaled, with a plumminess that somewhat evokes merlot, but this is still pretty clearly pinot thanks to those earthy tones and a little more acidity than I expected from a California pinot noir.
