Friday, March 27, 2009 - Fresh flowers (lily), broccoli, chalk dust, and pencil lead on the nose. The palate was very interesting and strange. The tannins are big and it makes for a very chewy wine. The acidity is almost undetectable and the wine is full of sweet dark flavors like mocha, licorice, cinnamon, plum and nutmeg. The finish is long and chewy and so much so that it was difficult to drink with food. I chewed the wine more than the food. If you did not smell the wine and only drank it, you would have confused it for cult Cali. This should improve after the tannins mellow. I would try again in 5 years.
