Monday, August 22, 2011 - After all was said and done on this bottle, I kept thinking of Anthony Lombardi’s recent note / experience with the 08 Mt Jefferson Cuvee, and perhaps the 08 Eileen was on an even a larger scale. Specifically, is was at once both funky, carrying an almost fecal edge one moment, and then just loaded with structure and fruit the next. I did a slow O for 12 hrs and then a good 2hr decant after that which hopefully was for the better. This evolved very little while in the glass which tends me to believe this will be a very long lived pinot. Simply put, just too young to really offer any kind of detailed analysis, but I love Cristom wines, always have, and have 100% faith this will blossom in due time, might take 7 year plus, but it will happen.
