80 Points

Sunday, May 19, 2013 - Sunday Brown Bag Tasting: 2009 Gigondas (Hoyer's): Crimson color with some bricking. Aromas of mushroom and red fruit, with weedy, vegetal brett qualities as well. The palate follows the bouquet.

I had a wonderful bottle of this 13 years ago that I purchased for 35 clams. Quite the bargain I thought at the time, but it was very bretty. I loved the savory mushroomy qualities then and would now. But, I could easily see where this bottling could toe the line and have considerable bottle variation.

    Good TN. Much appreciated.
