Wednesday, July 20, 2011 - What an epic and beautiful wine. Starting with gorgeous packaging, this wine is in a Champagne bottle and a crown camp to top it off. This was done to show that a wine that tastes this different should look different as well. Massive aromatics right out of the gate, giving off notes of papaya, grapefruit, flint and some mint. The palette is luscious, deep and complex with loads of fresh fruit flavours mixed in with chewy mineral notes and intense acidity. A very paradoxical wine; on one hand such powerful fruit tones, yet it does have more to it than that as it has the minerality and complexity that makes it obvious that is a terrific, unique and very well made wine. I like to think of this is a theoretical Alsatian Sauvignon Blanc, but really, it is exactly what is, the most unique white wine I've had in a long time and my favourite white wine of the year!
