Thursday, July 16, 2009 - On opening the nose is a little musty (like a Musar) with mushroom and pine. The pine and forest floor is very much in the palate. At times it is a little gamy and a little bit metallic (in this case not a detractor). There is some nice red and black fruit with a resin sweetness. The tannin and acid on this are in a good place. I would like this even better in 5-6 years when the fruit is fading out and integrates with the the other flavors a bit more.
Remember guys, 84 is a good wine.
