Thursday, April 27, 2023 - Tasted after 5 other Riojas including two other well-regarded reservas including a 2006 Valenciso. It was plainly the best: very attractive perfume leaps out of the glass, then lots of sweet fruit at first tasting, developing depth and complexity with the smoky character typical of Ardanza present but not dominant because the other elements were so well balanced. It lasts and lasts, demanding time in the mouth before swallowing. A great wine, fully deserving its “especial” designation.
