Friday, July 24, 2020 - Classic rioja... this wine exhibited all the textbook traits in the nose and on the palate. There was a bit more of an oak presence than I expected, but it was harmonious.
The tannins had resolved almost entirely, and the fruit, while still present and somewhat bright, had married with the secondary traits so the overwhelming impression was of balsamic roasted strawberries served on a leather plate
Balance, poise, and gusto all come together in this bottle. Drink now, or hold for a few more years - while I think it’s done developing in the bottle, it doesn’t seem to be in danger of fading.
