Friday, July 9, 2010 - Great nose with lots of spice, flavor. Some fruit, some mint/green, some truffle. Palate is very dark and smooth. Good tannic structure, some cassis and just a hint of something licorice-like. It is excellent, but not quite the 99 points awarded by RP. Very balanced, subtle. I think it has the tannic structure and acidity to age for a decade, but perhaps the fruit will have disappeared by then.
Update: I think this wine was overshadowed by the subtlety of some of the excellent bordeaux tonight. In the future, perhaps consider placing this with more California wines or drink by itself...
