Friday, April 2, 2021 - The Matriarch opened full of fruit, blackberry, plum, dark cherry and blueberry. Jammy sweet. No secondary layers. At 45 to 60 minutes, some earthy notes of dust and dried leaves began to emerge. So after an hour, a fairly balanced wine but still no structure as tannins were fully integrated. I would not think this should be too old and the fruit was plentiful so this may just have been bottle variation. Interesting and tasty but not what I expected this to be.
