Community Tasting Note

Sunday, April 8, 2012 - On pop and pour, tart cherry and cran-apple were underpinned with shades of warm vanilla and cinnamon. With air, the tart red fruit notes subsided, and the wine then showed more blue fruit character. Green stems lingered in the background but were not very prominent; the finish added a chalky note. Despite all that, this pinot seemed a bit tight, though thinking this should eventually surpass the '09 declassified Santa Cruz bottling in the complexity department. But, the pleasures both wines offered were neck and neck for me at this point with the Santa Cruz offering a more tantalizing nose and this one giving more to ponder on the palate.
