Tuesday, August 28, 2012 - Opened and poured, this wine gave an outstanding showing with aromatics of dark cherry, earth, chalk, stone and spice notes. The bouquet does shows an underlying green stem note that on this occasion adds to the overall aromatics complexity. The color is a dark ruby to almost purple. The medium (full) bodied palate shows density and enough youthful front to balance the tannins and acidity. The wine give a medium to long finish that shows a chalky, stone note intermingled with the fruit, tannins and acidity. This does drink well now but will most likely benefit from an additional 2 to 3 years of bottle age.
