2009 Rhys Pinot Noir Alpine Vineyard

Community Tasting Note

Likes this wine:

Friday, February 14, 2014 - pnp- nose of violets, chilled cranberry and cherry compote with a touch of woody stem. sour cherry, dark red cherry, florals, vanilla, woody earth, nutmeg, sarsparilla root, at times slightly herbaceous. long finish with fresh perfumed raspberry. tannins are velvety and coating. needs air, more later, this is shifty.

Coming back after three hours in the decanter. Less complexity showing, the acidity has dropped off but it's more stony and mineral. The tannins have calmed and become very silky and pretty. Intense, but more closed. This needs several years.
