Wednesday, August 6, 2014 - Rhys Vineyards is located in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The Alpine Vineyard is between 1200 and 1400 ft. and is about 10 miles from the Pacific. This vineyard is planted to heritage pinot noir clones such as Calera, Swan, and Wente. Not a lot of bouquet on the nose, hints of strawberry but then kind of flat with an acidic backing. Another interesting contrast in ratings with Antonio Galloni then at RP giving the wine a 95 while James Laube of WS giving it an 86. I thought the wine was below average. I purchased this wine on Winebid.com
