Sunday, February 22, 2015 - My cellar is rather deep in recent Rhys which makes me nervous as I've opened very few of the SV blends. This was showing very well, however, and met my very high expectations. Needed maybe an hour or so of air to show well. Very expressive nose of deep back cherry, anise, spice, and meaty notes. Palate is a little soft and smooth with a little sweetness on the attack, with subtly coarse tannins on the back side. Concentrated black cherry and maybe a little cola, but everything in balance with plenty of nuance despite the ripeness. Finish is long and complex, with a little sandalwood and mineral note mixed in. Very good and seemingly has some upside. Drink or hold.
