89 Points

Saturday, March 17, 2012 - This is a nice non-vintage champagne at around $30 per bottle. While this bottle did not have quite the depth or the complexity as the last bottle of Cuvee St. Anne that I consumed, it was also a much younger recent release that was in need of more development. I got the sense that it would have been at least 1-2 points better of it had spent a couple more years in the cellar. This has a slightly spicy aftertaste with raspberries, Brazil nut flavors, tight citrus, a little bit of honey, and some light yeast flavors. There is certainly a wide gulf in quality between this bottle and the standard 2002 vintage Brut Chartogne-Taillet. If you have access to both versions, the 2002 vintage is more than worth the average $15 per bottle premium. However, this is still a very pleasant sparkler.
