Monday, April 2, 2018 - Popped and poured with dinner. Just rounding into shape, really. Dark garnet, with just a hint of brick at the rim. Nose was complex, with a backbone of dark red fruit, some forest floor, though not as much of the usual barnyard, and some dusty spices. The palate was big, as usual, and had a bit of the rusticity one expects from Cayron. But it seems elegant at the same time. Lots of red and dark fruit left, with some pepper. Good balance, plenty of structure. Long finish. These are so good young these days, nice to have one that has been around a little while.
